Consequences of an Eating Disorder

If vomiting is the purge method:
- Swelling of the parotid and/or salivary glands
- Chipmunk appearance
- Numerous dental caries
- Erosions of tooth enamel
- Loss of gag reflex
If laxative abuse is the purge method:
- Constipation and/or diarrhea
- Abnominal bloating
- Dizziness, muscle weakness fatigue, and frequent headaches
- Isolation and avoidant behavior
- Lowered potassium level resulting in cardiac arrythmias
